Documents and links - how to add to your questions
You can add hyperlinks for links or for documents anywhere you see the text editor toolbar in Citizen Space. This means they can be added - among other places - to your overview page via 'Edit Activity Details', into the top of your question pages in 'Online Survey', and in the question area itself by using certain types of answer components.
Here we'll be looking at adding them into the question area of an Online Survey:

How to add a link in the question area using the text editor
It's not possible to put a hyperlink in the main question text itself, but it can be added to your question area by using either the 'Additional information - text' or 'Additional information - fact bank' answer component. Once you have added either one of these to your question and written into the text editor the text you want to appear, highlight the text, and select the link button in the toolbar:
This will bring up the URL box:
Put the web address of the site you want to link to in the box.
If you want the link to open in a new tab or window, you can do this by selecting the 'Target' tab and choosing from the dropdown menu.
Please note, that if you choose to do this, it might not be very obvious for people where that link has opened so you should also write in some text explaining what will happen. For example, you could include a bit of instruction in the display text like: 'Visit our main website (link opens in a new window)'. This helps everyone to better understand where that link will open, but particularly people using certain types of assistive technology and those who are perhaps not as familiar with computers or the internet.
Once you're happy, select OK. Your text will now be linked to the web address you entered:

This will bring up the linking box. Select the Upload tab:
Select the Choose File button, and find the document you want to link to on your computer. Then, select the 'Send it to the Server' button.
The file will be uploaded to Citizen Space and a link to the document will appear:
As with standard links, if you want the document to open in a new tab or window, you can do this by selecting the 'Target' tab and choosing from the dropdown menu.
Please note, that if you choose to do this, it might not be very obvious for people where that document has opened so you should also write in some text explaining what will happen. For example, you could include a bit of instruction in the display text like: 'Read our document (opens in a new window)'. This helps everyone to better understand where that link will open, but particularly people using certain types of assistive technology and those who are perhaps not as familiar with computers or the internet.
Select OK.
Your document is now linked to the text:
