'Add Easy Read question' form sections
Question text field
This is where you enter your Easy Read question.
These questions should:
- Be short (5 to 20 words is ideal) and use simple language. We have a word count for the text field to help you hit this target.
- Give context and avoid abrupt language. Use 'We need your name so we can send you a letter' rather than just stating 'Name'. This helps the person understand what and why you are asking the question.
- Use direct language: 'We will send you a letter' rather than 'A letter will be sent'. Use active verbs and be clear who is doing what.
Upload an image
Use Easy Read images that are either photos, symbols, illustrations or a combination to help with the understanding of the question.
Image file types allowed: png and jpeg images.
The images are resized/shaped to be square and at most 500x500 pixels. This helps to reduce the overall file size and maintain consistent sizing for question and answer images across devices. For the least amount of resizing or shaping, we recommend uploading images that are already square and maximum 500x500px in size.
Alt text
You may wish to add alt text for the image, however often for online Easy Read images the alt text is not necessary or redundant. If that is the case, leave blank.
Additional text
You may find that you need to explain the question in a bit more detail, provide further instructions or supporting material. You can add additional text that will be display directly after the main question. Keep in mind the question text field Easy Read guidance when writing and shaping any additional text.
Visibility
You can choose if the question is visible to respondents (default), or if it is to be used for reporting and analysis only. More information about analysis questions.
