Release notes: Citizen Space v8.18

Citizen Space version 8.18 released the week beginning 24 August 2026.

This update includes a workflow change to adding activities, expanding the options of adding images, a new supported language, along with a couple under-the-hood improvements.

Updated the 'Add activity' workflow

The way you add an activity has changed. Now you will select your activity type first, then you will be prompted to fill in the details. Not sure which one you need? You'll find a 'Help me choose' link if you want to compare types and learn more about how each is used.

The details step then asks for the usual name, URL and Workspace, now with the added option to choose whether an activity is public or private while you're creating it, rather than setting it up first and changing it afterwards.

Use images you host elsewhere

Image choice questions, Easy Read questions and Easy Read descriptive text now accept an image URL as well as an uploaded file. This means you can point at images already hosted on your own CDN or media library instead of uploading a second copy into Citizen Space.

Uploading is still the default, so nothing changes unless you want it to, and existing questions carry on exactly as they are.

Add tag charts to your data dashboard

The customisable data dashboard can only include charts created from quantitative answer components, however we now expanded the charts that can be included. You can now add tagging charts to the dashboard. This means qualitative responses can now also be visualised by including a chart for any applied tags.

Irish Gaelic is now supported

We added another language to Citizen Space - Irish Gaelic. Contact your site admin or customer success manager for more details about adding additional languages to your Citizen Space site.
